WHERE PEOPLE WORK IS A SITE FOR INSPIRATION

Workspaces vary as widely as occupations do.  Lab workers, teachers, and office managers, for example, all have different workspace requirements. Inspiring office includes solutions for any place where people work. These solutions are tailor-made to local and individual specifications. We  listen carefully to understand our clients' needs. We gather the data, then interactively plan what works best for them. Ergonomics, teamwork methods, and cultural differences are only a few of the factors we consider. In this way we exceed expectations with new, more Inspiring office solutions.

Everyone, no matter what they do or what they're like, should have a decent place to work - we are pleased to help making people's workspaces nicer for them.

OFFICE EVOLUTION

Office spaces have changed over time. After the 1950s, offices became more open and modern, with fewer personal office rooms. Advances in information communications technology have made this reshaping of office spaces possible. Knowledge workers  are now free to participate in projects from remote locations. In the future offices will be even more flexible, with virtual spaces as important parts of the whole.

Work is more and more defined by mobility. With today’s messaging tools for communicating there is less of a need to meet face to face. Work can therefore be multi-locational, with teams and responsibilities distributed around the globe.

The way space is used in the actual working environments themselves is also changing rapidly. Instead of being fixed and inflexible, working spaces are more often modified to meet the needs of the work. They can also be a mixture of virtual and physical spaces.
With each customer we begin with a question: “What kind of work is done in this space?” But no matter what the answer is, the space must be flexible and provide a good balance for public and private tasks.

ERGONOMIC INTERIOR SPACES

Every office interior is an opportunity to provide ergonomic solutions. People come in all shapes and sizes and have individual ergonomic needs.  Knowledge of ergonomics is one of Martela’s competitive advantages. Our awareness of the science behind our solutions and our years of experience in this area give us a unique edge. Ergonomics is more than just the human interaction with products – it’s also about considerations like lighting, acoustics and even air quality.

Our ergonomic solutions resolve many workplace interior needs.  One area of focus is acoustics. In modern offices the main problem is distracting sounds – primarily speech. Workers in distracting environments are less effective than workers in acoustically planned spaces. There is a wide range of options for meeting acoustic needs in offices. Sound-absorbing screens, open bookcases, absorbent cabinets, doors and backgrounds are a few examples.

Lighting is part of ergonomics and another very important factor in productivity. How much light you need depends on what you are doing. People working with paper have different needs than those using only computers, for example. Lighting needs can differ depending on the age of the people using the space, too. The older we get, the more light we need. Light creates atmosphere and helps balance office environments. The energy efficiency of different lighting choices is a factor as well.

A final ergonomic consideration is the air quality in each working space. Air purity, temperature, and humidity all affect productivity. Cleanliness of the air is especially important. Pure air keeps us feeling fresh and makes us more effective in our jobs and lives.

CUSTOMER BENEFITS

Martela’s inspiring office solutions vary as widely as do the businesses we serve – but all are grounded in a common point of origination - our core company value of user driven design.
Martela product designs and office solutions always take actual end user needs into account. We make it a priority not to forget that the products are designed for the end users, not for us. In this way we can successfully map customer needs and changing product features.

Awareness of each customer’s brand is vital. Customers, like us, make brand statements with their furnishings and spaces. Mapping customer brand strategy and then selecting products, materials, colors and layouts that support the brand is the best way to use our passion for innovation.

At Martela we work with our customers to create inspiring office solutions.

WELL-BEING

Wellness at work is a key interest at Martela. Research consistently shows that the right workplace environment can help create a positive sense of the world for the people who use it. The ergonomic factors of each space can make it more than just a place to work.

Well-designed spaces not only make people feel better, but they promote creativity and increase effectiveness at work, too. Employee loyalty and retirement savings increase, while sick leave expenses, work-place accidents and early retirement rates decrease.

The cost of making your office space a place of wellness is then clearly seen as an investment, not an expense. The reason is clear. This serious issue of wellness, which every business should consider, can improve effectiveness and increase profits.
